New Stream Service?

Postby Casar » 24 Jan 2009 12:31

Hi guys,

I didn´t know where to post this so I put it here.

I have noticed, having used Internet/gaming café´s that mp3/wav and medialplaying is usually disabled. So often when I want to listen to
a particular mp3 file the access is denied unless the file is streamed from the server. The reason given is that having winamp, vlc installed
has casued security issues and other issues as well. Meanwhile, many like myself want to be able to listen to anything anywhere.

There should be some kind of streambased service where you can automap an mp3/media link to the streampage where a player transparantly
streams the file from the given link. This gives the user the choice to just click any mp3 file and the internet cafés will not have to install anything that causes
security issues.

Is there something like this out there?

Thanks
Robert

Probably not because there is no business model, and server bandwidth cost money.

Apparently these may have a future solution for internet cafés;
