How to disable blank screen between playlist items

The newest versions of VLC insert a blank screen between playlist items, which is a change in behavior from what I'm used to. Can someone tell me how to turn this behavior off, so that subsequent items play with no transition at all? I'm using VLC 9.8 (Intel) on OS X 10.5.5.

Keeping the video window was sometimes causing crashes. Either you downgrade to 0.8.6 (and cope with the crashes and 0.8 issues), or you painstakingly wait for 1.0 which should fix this issue.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll look forward to version 1.0. I've used the "seamless transition" between playlist items of the same size to give many video-based presentations with VLC. It is an invaluable feature.
