Yes so I tried for version 0.9.8 and 0.9.7 but nothing worked...You have to use directX video output module, if you want to use the display selection.
Worked for me. Still wish you could fullscreen video on current monitor without that step, but it's a decent workaround.Version 0.9.8a
Solution a:
1. Go to Tools->Preferences...->Interface
2. Deselect the option "Integrate video in interface"
3. Play your video
4. Then turn the window on second monitor and maximize with double-klick
The point is to DESELECT itI have Ubuntu 8.10 with VLC 0.94 installed (I guess that is the latest version of VLC for debian by this time), I enabled TV as my 2nd screen (actually it became my primary desktop). When I played movie in fullscreen mode, some movies stay on my TV while others went to my PC in fullscreen. The option is already "integrate video in interface".
I really don't know what to do now.
