S-Video output for VLC

Hello.

I'm using an HP laptop (quite old) and wanted to connect to my Sony TV. I've got an S-Video cable and stereo sound from the laptop to the tv. The laptop has a FN+xxxx button to allow me to "turn on" the S-Video output.

WIth that, I can see my desktop on the TV.

If I play VLC I get just a black box on the TV.

Is there a way to get VLC to output to the S-Video connector on my laptop?

I don't know a lot, so please be nice. More than willing to play around if someone can at least point me in the right direction of some appropriate and relevant documentation.

j-b, thank you for replying, I'll be giving that a go.

But so that I am sure, there is no way to send the video DIRECTLY to the S-Video output?

So I can have my desktop on my laptop and the video on the TV?

yes, if your driver know how to do that, and windows detects your TV as a second monitor, you can do that.
