Switching to right channel freezes VLC?

I have two computers, one running Windows 2000 and the other Windows XP.

I go to www.melsgarage.com to listen to his NYPD scanner feed.

He has Left Channel as Port Authority Police and the Right as NYPD.

Often, I only care to listen to the right, so I go to Audio Channels and choose Right and it freezes on both machines.

I have used older versions of VLC and never had that problem and both machines are the latest VLC freshly downloaded only a week or two ago.
