Streaming problem

Postby materthron » 23 Nov 2008 18:02

Hi all!

I got the following setup: Win xp sp3 with latest vlc (j-b's fixed flv playback build ;-) and a ubuntu 8.10 (too with latest vlc).
For testing purposes I tried to http stream from one instance to the other which works fine on both OSs. But when I try to stream from the win xp machine (acting as server; ip adr: 192.168.0.110) to the ubutu box (client; ip addr: 192.168.0.159) i always get

Code: Select all

access_http error: cannot connect to 192.168.0.159:8080 access_mms error: cannot connect to 192.168.0.159:8080 main error: open of `http://192.168.0.159:8080' failed: could not create access
Any ideas what might cause this?

Thanks in advance.

@ajmm: This error is indeed from the Linux box. And yes I am sure port 8080/tcp is open.
@developer: Yes it is 0.9 and I'll give 0.8.6 a try soon.

What also catches me by suprise is that it once worked seemlesly and now (all out of a sudden) stopped working completely. :(

I have no problems with Win XP SP3, with vlc 0.9.6, I have ubuntu also, and I am able to open up my vlc stream fine, have you tried opening up the stream on the computer your streaming it on?

And you said your XP's ip was 192.168.0.110, are you putting that IP in the XP computer when you go to stream? Cause it looks like your putting your ubuntu's IP in the XP. Or if that code was from ubuntu's side your entering ubuntu's IP instead of the XP's IP.

Return to “VLC stream-output (sout)”
