Deinterlace Video Freeze

Just started using VLC MP (0.9.6) to view dvd hard disc images I have created (WinXP Pro SP3):
> MiniDV captured as avi.
> Scenalyzer splits large avi into a bunch of smaller ones based on timecode.
> TmpgEnc Plus 2.5 encodes all small avi's tp mpeg-2 (no deinterlace).
> All mpeg-2's authored to dvd (not burnt) with DVD Author 3 (multi page dvd menu shows brief clip of each chapter - the feature I am after).
> DVD's burnt if required (for family members without PC) or...
> DVD iso file viewed (by me ) in VLC (across wireless 54mb LAN) with deinterlace=linear - beautiful....

BUT

...after an indeterminant period of time the video starts to 'break up' and finally freezes with audio burbling on quite happily. I find if I disable then enable the video track it comes good again...

Does it happen with all deinterlacing modes?

Just tested it - yes.

It comes good if I select deinterlace=disable.

Memory related ? Discovered the box has 512mb ram...

I have this problem as well - my box is 3.47GHz Intel CPU with 2GB RAM and ATI Radeon video 256MB. I did not have this issue with earlier releases of VLC.

Tools -> Messages... (set Verbosity to 2) before playback, does this give you any messages when problems start?

Seems like decoder error. Have you tested playback with 1.0.0?

nvm...found and loaded 1.0.0-git-20081123 Goldeneye...

Same sort of problem PLUS:
> Sometimes video would just disappear.
> Interface changes not an improvement imo.
> Sometimes hovering over slider bar advanced video.

Too hard - I am looking for something that just works...Im pulling the plug on VLC.

I got the same error over and over like the other user while watching a normal DVD.
