I am seeing same issue on ubuntu linux install of VLC 0.9.2.

Has anybody found a solution?

Ubuntu is not the same issue as this thread.
Startt firefox from command line and get the messages.

I see the same issue on a windows machine. It happens for certain streaming movies which are long. The short movies from the same site work fine.

Both the movies work fine on windows media player. I will get messages from linux machine soon.

rishibhargava: with certain files (like MP4 with moov atom at end of file) it will happen, there is nothing you can do (unless it is your site, then you can fix the MP4 creation).

Thanks for quick response. So if I understand correctly, the same stream will work fine with windows media player but with vlc, it will be an issue. Right?

If another plays it correctly and VLC doesn't, then it is a bug.

I am logged into the site and it works fine using windows media player. Do you think windows media player picks up some cookie from the browser and sends over this information to the server which vlc is not doing?

I dont understand how authentication works in media streams.

I'm running 0.9.8a and am still getting this issue. FF 3.1b2, Vista x64. Audio files actually play, but the video is loading message still appears and I get not controls. Movie files do not play at all and I just get the message. I have tried the %PATH% fix and do not have any of the dll's mentioned in the support ticket in my VLC folder.
