The release I had the problem with is 0.9.6. I tried 0.9.2 and (for the basic features I need) so far so good....
kinemax: there isn't any official builds between 0.8.6i and 0.9.2
0.9.x blows.
I disagree strongly with this sentiment0.9.x is definitly a mess ...
I need to clean it up.On another topic. Why the monster thread?
I thought there was a preference for one thread per issue. I can see value in the developers listing outstanding issue so they don't have to repeat themselves. If that is what this thread is suppose to achieve perhaps a new one should be created for each version and locked so only developers can post in it. On the other hand if developers like it this way then disregard this post.
Yes, it was OK up to 0.94 included (100% sure )Did telx ever work for you ?
Can you try with the newer 0.9.6 binaries?Yes, it was OK up to 0.94 included (100% sure )Did telx ever work for you ?
They are both. I attached tested mp3 (http://www.mediafire.com/?001dyzm2mfm) and UI screenshot (http://www.mediafire.com/?jz0nzjhy3mu)wks: filenames are Cyrillic or the ID3 metadata?
When I look up the details it gives me this:VLC media player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience,
Now today I tried to launch several H.264 files with the .mp4 I downloaded from Revision 3 and they also didn't work. Upon trying to launch them with the player already open the error I got this time was:AppName: VLC.exe AppVer: 0.9.6.99 ModName: msvrt.dll ModVer: 7.0.26005512 Offset: 00036fa3
When I looked at the log there is some weird thing about the system clock counting backwards.VLC can't recognize the input's format:
The format of 'M:\Media\Video\Podcasts\Rev3's Tekzilla\Tekzilla--0059--dellalienpc--hd.h264.mp4' cannot be detected. Have a look the log for details.
Sorry, but the only version you can trust is the version on our main page, not on one of our FTP, not on any other Website... The fact that they distribute wrong versions of VLC is their problem, not ours. We cannot go on the thousands of website that are too greedy and tell them they have a wrong binary.I realized that I forgot to read through the last posts on the forum looking for answers because I was so irked by not being able to work this one out. When I looked I found the fix for the .flv problem as previously posted... You might want to get in touch with the good people over at VersionTracker because they did not get the word about the fix and you released it with the same version number and they have no build numbers listed I think they didn't get the message, or linked to the wrong version because I downloaded my current version from the last update they had shown in their daily mailing of new updates, and VLC hasn't appeared in there since.
NP. Possibly i have one more issue for your "bug paradise"wks: thanks, I can confirm this. Meta data is mishmash on every player, but VLC doesn't handle the filename correctly.
http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/2293
Code: Select all
dts info: DTS channels:6 samplerate:48000 bitrate:768000
That means VLC has crashed. If VLC closes down properly, there won't be any system tray icons left.System tray notification area icon is always displayed (this may be by design in skin2 mode), and it remains there even after a trouble-free and complete program exit, disappears only by hovering.
But why don't let VLC be better than other players ?
.... Meta data is mishmash on every player,.......
Because you didn't help ?But why don't let VLC be better than other players ?
.... Meta data is mishmash on every player,.......
The meta data is saved against the specs. But why don't let VLC be better than other players ?
