Equalizer in 0.96 resets all the time

When playing mp3-songs I want to have a general setting for the equalizer, and just change it when it is needed.
But every time i open a song, which opens up VLC, it is resetted.
I have enabled the 10-channel EQ in preferences but it didn't make any difference.
Also, when I stop a song when inside VLC, the equalizer sets itself to not enabled. The settings is still there, it isn't just enabled. When I start a new song and enable the equalizer, it doens't use the settings despite beeing enabled. I have to "nudge" one of the sliders for a frequency in the EQ and it suddenly remember the settings again. But it lasts just for that song!
Is this a common bug or are there ways around it?

Even I am facing the same problem. I did liked VLC 9.6, but Equalizer settings

I use the old version because of the Equalizer problem ... whenever there is anew release I download and check if the Equalizer bug is fixed or not.. i love vlc simply becasue of its ska Equalizer settings .. the sound is somehow amazing ...
