Changing the 'Open File' Window Settings

Postby Lil' Soul » 08 Nov 2008 02:56

These are more of an annoyance than technical issues, but I was unsure what to name this thread and what to search for to make sure I’m not asking something that is common or has been asked before.. My apologies to all if this is a repost..

I’m using VLC Media Player 0.9.4 on Vista Home.. Every time I go to open a new file in the player, the location defaults back to my Documents folder. In the past versions of the media player I’ve used, the last directory I had opened a file from was the folder that was defaulted to when I went to open any new files. That was far quicker and more convenient for me. I checked all the preferences I know how to find, but could not discover a means of changing that particular setting. If anyone could shed light on how I might change this, I would be grateful.

Likewise, when opening a file from the player.. I would like the player to default to displaying All Files as opposed to simply Media Files. This setting as well does not stay where I would like it when it's changed. If anyone knows how I might get that to stay where I want it, you would be my hero.

Thanks,

Lil’ Soul

Default location issue will be hopefully fixed in next release.

So, any word on this? .96 is out and still no fix. This is highly annoying and I think I will have to move away from videolan as this costs me far too much time to browse back through my folders to get back to the last used one.

Wow, thanks for that reply! Very helpful. I already put that in my original post. Is there any reason why the author chooses to ignore bugs like this? You know what, forget it, I am gone. KMPlayer here I come

why the author chooses to ignore bugs like this?
Because bug like these don't cause segfaults or file corruption or stack overflow based attacks.

Exactly, the code exists, but not prioritary, while 0.9.6 was prioritary
