there are some problems with this skin in ubuntu 8.10. i do not only miss the preferences, there is another problem. i cant load any other skins or the basic "skin". VLC does only run with Crossover Leopard, after it was installed.
Any idea getting the standard theme back?

edit the config file with any text file, and change "skins2" to empty (at least on windows, it works))
oh, ok.Because VLC changed its video system in skins in such a way that it is not displayed when there is no video window in the skin. So I'd need to update my skin and add a video window. Than it'll work again. Might do that some time soon.
it's just to try itI wouldn't suggest to you downgrading to an earlier version of VLC, because there were quite some issues in the skins module in versions past.
