Next playlist item problem

Hi,

We are running version 0.8.6f and we are having problems with skipping through DVD chapters. I have tried numerous different DVDs, but whenever I try to use the option to skip forward to the next chapter, it just returns me to the main DVD menu.

Why does it do this? Am I doing something wrong? It seems really weird - all I want to do is skip forward through the chapters.

Can anyone confirm if this is standard behaviour in videolan? or is something wrong with the version/DVDs we have?

Should we be able to skip through chapters on a DVD or not?

Are you using the DVD specific buttons to skip or just the normal interface skip buttons? (What OS/VLC interface do you use btw?)

Hi,

I'm not sure what you mean exactly by 'dvd specific' buttons, but it happens if I use the 'play next item in playlist' buttons, or right click and choose 'Next'. I also get it if using the keyboard shortcuts n and p. However I just noticed that if I choose the 'Navigation menu' and 'Next Chapter' it seems to work perfectly - it skips forward through the chapters as I would expect.

I'm using the default interface - I also got the same behaviour in skins2. I'm on Windows XP.

The standard controls such as the ">>|" button at the top are for skipping to the next playlist item - a DVD-Video is one playlist item hence why the DVD-Video restarts in the menu.

At the bottom-right of the window (i.e. not in fullscreen mode) there should be three navigational buttons (only displayed for formats which contain/can contain chapters etc.). The ">>|" button should skip to the next chapter.

Alternatively to skip to the next DVD chapter press "Ctrl+D". To select the previous chapter press "Ctrl+U".

Are these chapter-specific buttons, in the bottom right, supposed to appear in all the major interfaces?

I'm running on Mac OSX so it's using the "macosx" interface and it doesn't have those chapter-navigation buttons. Is this something I should bring up in the OSX forum, or have those since been done away with (I'm running 0.9.5), or what?

That was for the Qt4 interface, AFAIK there are no navigation button on the main window of the Cocoa (OS X) interface.

The keyboard bindings (should) work however.
