HOW CAN I CONVERT A .PART FILE TO AVI AND BURN IT?

HOW CAN I CONVERT A .PART FILE TO AVI AND BURN IT?

Postby mevm » 27 Oct 2008 01:25

GOOD EVENING EVERYBODY,
IT IS THE FIRST TIME I AM PARTICIPATING IN THIS FORUM AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF YOU WOULD BE SO KIND AS TO HELP ME. I LIVE IN LIMA, PERU.
IT HAPPENS TO BE THAT I HAVE A PART FILE I DOWNLOADED FROM E-MULE. THE THING IS THAT I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO CONVERT IT TO AVI IN ORDER TO BURN IT ON A DVD. WHAT EXACTLY DO I HAVE TO DO? IS IT POSSIBLE TO DO THAT CONVERSION WITH THIS INCOMPLETE FILE? I CAN ONLY WATCH THIS VIDEO ON GOM PLAYER BECAUSE IT HAS THE RIGHT CODECS. I WAS SEARCHING ON THE WEB FOR SOLUTIONS AND I FOUND THIS:

ANOTHER THING THEY SUGGEST IS CONVERT THE .PART FILE TO AVI AND THEN USE VIRTUAL DUB. IS THAT POSSIBLE? WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST I DO?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP IN ADVANCE
MEVM

Moved to General VLC media player discussion.

An *.avi.part file is an incomplete *.avi which is in the process of being downloaded. For the purposes of burning (for which I assume you mean a DVD-Video), using e.g. VirtualDub to resave the file as a complete *.avi is probably the best method. Just open the *.avi.part file in VirtualDub, go to "Video >> Direct Stream Copy", and then go to "File >> Save as AVI..." and save the file.

Then you can use the "complete" AVI file and burn to a DVD-Video. To do that you could use a tool such as DVD Flick. DVD Flick may even be able to burn a *.avi.part file direct too since it uses FFmpeg to encode anyway (haven't tried that though).

Arite.
