Sound problems...

Postby FlashT » 15 Oct 2008 18:48

Hi,

First of all, my english is probably not good enough to describe the problem well, but I hope you will understand what I mean.
Got problems with sound. The problem occures only on DirectX (without float32), PortAudio outputs, but... Those outputs are the best, because Win32 output and DirectX with float32 on are kinda dimmed(?). And whats the problem? There are generally 2 problems. So what happens? First. In some moments sound quality decreases, it sounds like when you are turning radio too lound, the speakers are not able to generete such loud sound, the same happens when you increase volume to much in GoldWave, when dB's are kinda out of range. And the second thing are... breakdowns(?), you can hear loud "thick!"s during playback, some time. Hope you understood what I mean. The problem appears only in VLC Player, never had this problem in any other application. Have SoundMax HD integrated soundcard (Asus P5K Premium mainboard), good quality 5.1 Speakers (Creative Inspire T5400 or something) ...

Any ideas how to fix it? Of course I could use win32 output or other application, but I like the sound quality that VLC Player generates...

Best regards,
FlashT

This happens with all audio material? Like normal MP3 files and with AC3 5.1 files?

I don't know, it does happen with mp3's, but have no idea about DTS or AC3 5.1 simply because I don't have any file like that... dunno how could I test it.

Have you tried to change VLC volume slider to lower and increase Windows volume to higher?
