How many unicast channels can support one server?

As the subject says. We want to implement a solution for a hotel. We are talking about 3000 rooms and I need to provide VOD and multicast channels for all of them. What I need to know is how many streams can I get from just one server?. If I install some virtual machines this can help?

As said in other threads, it depends on hardware as VLC has no inherent limitations regarding this.

This is really impossible to answer. Please benchmark yourself. By the way, multicasting (or unicasting a broadcast stream) scales much better than real VoD.

But I need to add ffw, rw, pause, stop and play functionality. Can I achieve this without VOD?
