Tearing when watching dvd movies. How do I enable VSYNC?

Postby u-slayer » 10 Oct 2008 21:42

Whenever I watch movies I notice a lot of tearing (the top of the screen shows one frame while the bottom of the screen shows the previous frame).

Does VLC have an option to enable VSYNC?

I'm running ubuntu 7.10 with

Code: Select all

00:05.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation C51PV [GeForce 6150] (rev a2)
Here's my xorg.conf

Code: Select all

When I have tearing in video games the solution is simple: Enable VSYNC.

Shouldn't VLC have this also?
