VideoLAN 0.9.2 on Windows unable to play Iron Man DVD

Postby Kumba42 » 02 Oct 2008 05:39

Specifically, it cannot play the 2-Disc edition of Iron Man (comes with the slip cover). Loaded the disc into the drive, hit play on VideoLAN 0.9.2, and told it to play a DVD with menus. The screen took about 20+ seconds to load while reading the disc, then lots of graphical gobbledygook just appear all over the play window and the audio skipped every 2 seconds. In the upper-left corner, you could see part of the video, but the rest was mangled.

So I stopped it, and reloaded telling it to play a DVD w/o menus (simpledvd). Program played for about 3 seconds the same as above, then hung and Windows killed it.

Downgraded back to 0.8.6f (last install exe I have lying around), and everything plays fine. Anyone else had a chance to try this particular disc yet and get the same results?

FYI, posting here because I don't know if this problem is specific to Windows.

I have no answer to your question, but maybe you can help me. When I use version 0.9.2 I cannot get any picture at all, but i do get sound when playing a DVD. You said you down graded too 0.8.6f, can I ask how you down grade, as if I could do that then maybe I can play DVD's again and that is all I want lol. The annoying thing is that VLC worked brilliant on my pc until I upgraded. Can you help me
