subtitle size

Postby zepretender » 27 Aug 2004 13:28

Hi !

The is a bad trouble in VLC (Mac OS X and XP lastest version) and subtitles. When subtitles are too long, the font-size sould be automaticly adapted to scree size. It's impossible to read sometime when font size stay the same (bad display for long phrases).

Am I clear ? Because I'm not english.

Thank you

Hello, my english isn't very good as well.
I think that I have the same problem. Let me explain:
On a mkv file I have long subtitles lines that are displayed with some characters over another ones of the same line. I don't know if it's a problem of the subtitle or vlc, but I suppose that it would have to be splitted in two lines instead of puuting words over anothers ones (the subtitle becomes unreadable). I tried to look in VLC preferences for an option that reduces char size or force the excedent of the line to go in another one instead of be overplace the existing line.

Sorry if isn't very clear but I'm not a fluent english speaker.

nightly build server?

Postby WiseWeasel » 25 Oct 2004 12:34

The nightly build server seems to be down at this moment. Is this just temporary, or is there a another place I could get the latest development version to test this out?
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

The same problem. When the two line sentences will be mistaken as one line.It is hard for me to read it.

I found another question. It happened on a moving sub.It can't move at all.It stopped there and nothing will happen until time is up.Is it true that vlc can only show sub at the only position?
My English is very bad,you see.But I think you can know me,can't you?

yes yes, it's true, vlc does not move subs around. That's just childish anyway

BTW, after 0.8.0 some work will be done on positioning and colors for our subtitle subsystem. This might make it to the SSA support as well.

G . R . E . A . T!!!

Then vlc will be more close to "perfect"

Anyone know when the new version will be released?
