prioritize cpu

prioritize cpu

I have found the prioritize cpu setting under advanced. How does it work? If i want to give more juice to VLC would i type in - which number? 100 = all of one cpu? -3 = what?
I'm on a macbook using vlc 0.9.2

anywhere I can read up on it? Can't seem to find anything about it on the wiki. I'm on a macbook. Had I knowned it was depending on the platform I would have postet in the mac section.

I believe it is not supported on OSX at all, owing to the very peculiar and picky way the OSX kernel handles thread priorities.
