XiVs Codec VLC 0.9.2

Postby snowball » 17 Sep 2008 22:06

I am trying to play a .mov video file and it is giving me the following error in VLC:

No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format "XiVs". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.

I have tried playing the file in QuickTime but it ends up freezing on me whereas VLC will play the video just fine but the audio will not.

I have tried downloading the XiPH codec pack for quick time but it didn't help in VLC.

Any help?

Could you be more specific as to what the formats are (both audio and video) in a .mov container?

Generally, Quicktime doesn't do XviD or DivX under Windows even though they say it does with the proper codecs installed.

FourCC.org doesn't know XiVs, are you sure about the spelling?

Yes XiVs is a QuickTime HACK to put Xiph Vorbis in mkv.
