SAP "unknown SDP version: 1" in VLC Media Player 0.9.2

Postby txl » 18 Sep 2008 07:37

With VLC Media Player 0.8.6e, I can view the available Session Announcements in the playlist. However, with the same preferences set in 0.9.2, I don't get any sessions visible. I've trashed the prefs and reconfigured it from scratch, but I can consistently replicate it as working in the earlier version, and not working in the newer.

System: Intel iMac 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo
OS: Mac OS X 10.4.11 (with SecUpd 2008-006, QuickTime 7.5.5 applied)
RAM: 1GB
Network: Company LAN (not home network)

(VLC does not crash.)

The Messages in 0.9.2 are returned as follows:

main debug: CPU has capabilities 486 586 MMX MMXEXT SSE SSE2 FPU

(the last line then repeats ad nauseum)

Does VLC 0.9.2 implement a change to the supported SAP protocol or something?

In 0.8.6e, where it actually works, I get the following Messages:

rfc4566 Says that as of this moment only v=0 is defined. As such, your SDP announces over SAP are invalid.

I have no idea what that means.

Since I have no control over the server, only the client, we'll be staying on 0.8.6 which does work.

It means the server which is sending these SDP announcements is broken and should be fixed.
