Dual-aspect-ration movies - VLC doesn't show chioce menu

Postby tbessie » 22 Sep 2008 10:20

I was watching a copy of the DVD of "Species" from files on my hard drive, and noticed it goes right to the main menu using VLC. If I play the disc on a dedicated DVD player, or if I use PowerDVD to play it from files or the disc, it displays a "Choose Widescreen/ 4x3" menu, so I can choose the format.

Is this problem confined to this particular DVD, or any dual-aspect-ratio disc, or only a certain kind of dual-aspect-ratio disc?

And is this a known issue?

VLC tries to skip to the menu in order to bypass Copyright and other legal banners that no one wants to see. You can disable this in the advanced preferences (input/codecs->Access modules->DVDnav (menus)
Don't use PMs for support questions.
