x264 encoding and muxing

Postby Guest » 25 Oct 2004 17:49

Hi

I am using 0.8.2 test version and I'm trying to create files with x264 video and aac audio in mp4 container. - Windows platform

Is this possible? Is anyone else trying to do this with any success??

If not, what containers can x264 be put in and should videolan be able to transcode x264/mp3 in avi to x264/mp3 in MP4 or MPG PS or TS for that matter?

I can create my x264 files using mencoder for now, so just the transcoding is important.

Thanks for any help, and keep up the great work with videolan.

afaik vlc currently doesnt produce 100% spec compliant .mp4 files (dunno about mpg) when used for muxing raw h.264 streams

you can also try the mp4creator tool from the mpeg4ip project on sourceforge for muxing raw h.264 streams into .mp4

atm it seems as if most commercial h.264 developers place h.264 in .mp4 rather than mpg (eg ahead, sorenson, envivio, moonlight), only mainconcept uses mpg to my knowledge
