Converting MPG2 to MP4

Postby judodan » 18 Sep 2008 18:29

I'm using VLC 0.9.2 and I'm trying to convert a video using VLC. I created the video in PowerDirector in MPG2 format.

VLC plays the video just fine, but when I try to convert to MP4, I have problems.

When I use the "preset" MP4, it creates the file, but QuickTime (v7.5.5 if it matters) will not play it, giving an error -2010: The movie contains some invalid data.

VLC can play the MP4 just fine.

When I try to use the method I used on older versions of VLC (Select video format of H.264, audio format of MPEG 4 Audio, and the MPEG4/MP4 encapsulation), it encodes the audio, but not the video.

Any ideas? (Or suggestions on what else to try?)

Thanks!
