Hauppauge 1600 dies after seconds of use

Postby donVideo » 07 Feb 2008 05:31

Has anyone had a success using vlc with the Hauppauge 1600 card? I'm trying to access the card using pvr:/dev/video0. It seems to work for several seconds, but then it dies. Once it dies, I find that I need to reboot my computer before it will work again for several seconds. If run cat /dev/video0 > testFile for several minutes, then I'm able to use vlc to stream the testFile perfectly. Any thoughts? I'm running Ubuntu 7.1 and vlc version 0.8.6c.

FYI, my driver cx18 driver seems to be loading just fine:

[ 15.632000] Linux video capture interface: v2.00
[ 15.708000] cx18: Start initialization, version 0.1.0
[ 15.708000] cx18-0: Initializing card #0
[ 15.708000] cx18-0: Autodetected Hauppauge card
.
.
.

Thanks,
DonVideo

Hi, a question: The Hauppauge 1600 ready works or you still have problems. I want to buy this card to work with Ubuntu server 8 and I need to know if this it works because the 150 model is discontinued. Please help me, Thank you.
