Snapshot not working?

Hello, newbie here. I've downloaded VLC mainly for getting frame grabs from dvd. Playback is fine, but Snapshot does not appear to be functioning. I've gone into Settings>Preferences>Video and created a folder to save the images into. Whether capturing via Video>Snapshot or right click on the image>Snapshot, nothing happens. A search for recent images (in case they were saved elsewhere) turns up empty. Resetting to default also produces no results. I've searched this forum and haven't come across a similar problem. I'm running on XP. Any help is appreciated.

It's not working for me either (also on Windows XP), though I do get some response.

When I hit the snapshot hotkey, no matter WHAT my settings are (I've been playing around with 'em and the behavior is always the same, including changing my preferences for file type and file location):

- VLC creates an empty .png file in the specified image directory, with vlcsnap as its prefix (regardless of what I tell it to do -- the only thing it gets right is where to put the image).
- VLC crashes.

Always. Always. I'm really bummed. I've tried it on two systems, both running Windows XP, and I get the same behavior on both, regardless of settings.

I tried upping the verbosity but the messages window shows nothing when I reopen VLC.

I downloaded VLC entirely for making screenshots, so I would really love to get this to work! Thanks in advance.

So, problem apparently solved. HOORAY!

^ Yes there was/is a bug in libvlc.dll 0.8.6i which cause snapshot to crash. j-b's build fixes that issue.

Does the job with the new build. But it still doesn't accept changes made in Settings. The images are still going to My Pictures rather than the folder I created for them, and they still are .png rather than .jpg. I can live with that.
