Fast Forwarding - Always stop at Intraframe possible?

Postby Trenton_net » 25 Aug 2008 05:41

Hi Everyone,

I noted when playing some videos, while trying to fast forward, sometimes you don't stop at an intraframe so you get macroblocks for a short time until the next intraframe passes by. Is there a way to configure VLC player to always stop at an intraframe so you never have to wait for it to clear up (At the expense of exact time fast forward accuracy?

Not specificly. I have an AVI file which is highly compressed and whenever you fast forward it takes about 10 seconds for the next intraframe to roll by and clear up the picture.

I know some other players such as Mplayer can fast forward directly to intraframes, but it looks like VLC always chooses accurate seeking over intraframe friendly seeking?

Have you tried nightlies?

VLC ain't frame based player, so seeking and things related to that aren't perfect.
