Does VLC complain something? You can try to identify those files with mediainfo software which tells more details about those files.

Hi,

When I play them in VideoLan, it did not show the duration of the file, it's only 0.
The time line is moving towards the end, the screen is black.

One .ts file is about 1 GB and the other about 4 GB.

What is MediaInfo software? When can I get that?

You can get MediaInfo from here. Just install it, then you should be able to right-clik on the file and select "MediaInfo". It should display the video codec(s), audio codec(s) etc.

Also, when playing the file in VLC, pressing "Ctrl + I" and clicking on the "Advanced information" tab will give you the video/audio codecs etc. (if VLC is able to detect them).

You may wish to consider re-muxing the tracks into a Matroska (MKV) file. This can be done using MKVToolnix (website here). Just install, open "mkvmerge GUI", and drag and drop the *.ts file into the "Input files:" section, edit the other options if you like (track names, Output file name etc.), and then press "Start muxing". It should get a *.mkv file. Try that in VLC.

Cheers, Arite.

I'm having the same problem as OP. I tried mkvmerge. the .ts files don't appear as valid. I also tried using media player classic. Nothing seems to work.

You could try demuxing the tracks using ProjectX (a Cross-platform DVB demux tool written in Java - get it from here). Open "ProjectX.jar", and then open the *.ts file in it, and select "QuickStart" or "prepare >>". Then (in the new window which should come up) press the Play/Pause button (something like that). If all goes well you should get the audio/video tracks etc. demuxed to separate file in the same directory as you *.ts file, along with a log file.

Then try adding the separate demuxed tracks to the mkvmerge GUI, and create an *.mkv file from that. Then try it in VLC.

Arite.

TS is a container and not a format. Like Matroska (MKV) you can put almost anything in a TS container, just don't expect any player to play it! :)

I also renamed that .ts file to something simple and it still won't work.

You could try muxing the *.ts file into e.g. an Matroska (*.mkv) file using a tool such as mkvtoolnix.

Hi, guys.

I am using your VLC player 1.1.5 on my Windows XP. Also I am using Elecard Net SDK and their Elecard AVC video encoder. But when I playback encoded video by your player Codec Detiles window gives me wrong information. It shows me unexisting streams mpgv and mpgva (I've attached you screensots and video file). There is no any streams except of mp4a and h264 streams I have in my video file. Elecard developers confirmed that there is any problem, when VLC playback AVC H.264 Programm stream. Please, help me to access.

To download screenshots and encoded file you can here

Thank you in advance
Emil

I just had this problem.
I resolved it by deleteing the folder Subs and each Sub contained in the same folder with the .ts file.
That happened as I understood because .ts includes hidden subtitles and happens something like a mix up when there are other subtitles that vlc tries to play automatically.
