Problem with HD wmv video files

Postby ashanta » 15 Aug 2008 12:35

Hello,

I'm on Vista platform with VLC 0.86.i .

I can't view HD video files with the .wmv extension. Sound is good but the image is freezing.

How to solve this problem ?

I'd like to add another trouble I get. It can not read some flv files. Some flv works and others, not.

Thanks in advance for your help

Unstable release, that has better support for most stuff (and more efficient decoders).

)I've just tested your last version.

I've got an error message when VLC is opening,in french, this is what I have from the little window: "le point d'entree de procedure VLC thread ready introuvable dans la bibliotheque de liens dynamiques libvlccore.dll" In English, I can't translate it. Then, I click ok, and VLC runs. How to solve this little trouble ?

I checked for the HD videos and flv. files. All is ok whith this version :D The only thing bad with the video files, is concerning HD wmv file, when playing the file and I'm trying to go further in the video as I'm clicking in the bar, the video comes back, instead of going forward.

Yes, I forgot to mention that it takes 8-9 seconds to launch one HD wmv file. I'm waiting for 8-9 seconds to watch the first image from the video clip.

I tried also streaming files like mms and rtsp. No problems with mms files.

I've got just an error with an rtsp link, this was the error: "VLC can't support audio or video format samr" (my translation from french  )
Here are some few rtsp links:

rtsp://mobistar.live.qt.telemakstream.net/qtlive/qtbcast.mobistar.telemak/plugtv_fr_umts.sdp
rtsp://mobistar.live.qt.telemakstream.net/qtlive/qtbcast.mobistar.telemak/rtltvi_fr_umts.sdp

I thinks this an excellent update if some of the troubles are solved. I like the display and graphic of this new version :D :D

Translation would be something like "Entry point _vlc_thread_ready not found in DLL libvlccore.dll", nothing you should worry about and hopefully it won't happen on stable builds.

samr audio support seems to require some extra work during recompile, so that is why it isn't included in default builds.

Thanks for this translation VLC

Do you have the project to include this samr audio file in the default builds ?

I had experienced the "Entry point........." Error, but this nightly fixed it, as it no longer displays. :)

I don't have any samr build nor I have tried to do those. Maybe I should ask someone about this.

Until we have a free samr decoder, I doubt it.

Latest rumors say release will happen this month (unless something critical comes up).

Ok, thanks.

I've notice a little wrong or bad function when reading a HD wmv file. When clicking on the advanced bar to forward the video (when it's reading), it comes back, something is wrong ! Why we can't forward the HD wmv video when reading ??

Let me know, thanks

You have some sample file that shows this issue and you could share it?

I have 2 samples files, but not to share in this forum.

Both, are different videos and they are wmv files.

We don't need whole files. Small samples are OK. You can cut WMV files with tool called AsfBin.

I tried http://www.highdefinitionstudio.com/vid ... tripes.zip and I can use seek bar normally. Stables don't decode video very fast, but nightlies work better.

Yes, indeed the decode video is slow, very slow in my case.

So, if you further in the video by clicking on the progression bar, the bar don't come back ? <

Please, try it with the others 2 files, thanks in advance. :D
