Nice Player!

Postby black » 15 Oct 2004 20:28

Hi all,

Congrats on a very promising tool. Been using it a couple of weeks now and have tossed all other players in favor of VLC. Still trying to figure out how to use it properly, but enjoying the experience.

Currenly using XP-SP1, but also mult-boot several flavors of Linux, and will install to those, eventually. Excellent having a player that don't bitch 'bout codecs!

BTW, recently sent a "skin2" offering for those that may be interested, but haven't seen a posting yet, or maybe it never got there? Will be doing a follow-up on this. The vout window works pretty well with OGL (resizing. moving) but blanks with DX...bummer. DX produces a crisper display but the blanking gets annoying.

2.4 ghz P4
XP, MDK 9.2, MDK 10.0, Gentoo, Suse
ATI 9000 (using overlay)
1 gb DDR

Cheers!

Actually, it never got there... But it would be nice to have it, since currently there are only 2 skins available besides the default one!
If you want, you can send it to vlc-devel AT videolan DOT org, and someone will make it available on http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-skins2.html

Thanks for this nice player.
I recently got a USB 2.0 DVD drive and was trying to play DVD with my Celeron 560 machine ( not a very powerful machine). VLC is the only player that I found so far that can at least let me see the picture.
Initially I was using the 0.7.2 version and I can see the picture but the sound was very very choppy. Today I try out the 0.8 beta 2 and it is much better. Thanks again and keep up with the good work.
