videolan media player did not appear

hello everone
I download the vlc-0.7.2.tar.gz from the videolan.org then I compile msvc in it ,but the vlc.exe is command line and did not work .why the videolan media player (GUI) did not appear?

Read INSTALL.win32 and the developer documentation on http://developers.videolan.org/vlc/ and you know why.

I compile it in vc++ 6.0 must I compile in Cygwin Environment.

Cygwin environment is MUCH easier -- VLC is not designed in Visual C.

Go to the developers site, click on the VLC page -- there's a document about exactly what Cygwin components to download, how to compile VLC in Cygwin.

Otherwise, if you aren't trying to develope new software modules for it, just use the nightly builds -- they are readily available, already compiled for Windows.
