How to setup 3 seperated VLC streams with Webinterface..?

Postby Sawyer » 04 Aug 2008 10:33

First to the basics.
My connection is 20/20 and I'm mostly running IPTV now which go up to 4Mbit at most.

I use the Wizzard to setup the stream, then I add a webinterface which connects on 8080 port or 8081 if I use the HTTP instead of RTP unicast. All fine and so for one stream.

Then I click on the VLC.exe again to startup another instance of VLC. When I try to setup another stream and another web interface it puts it on the same 8080 port.
Is there a way around this? Ofcourse this doesnt work then.

Also which protocol is the best to use? TS, PS, Mpeg1,ogg, RAW...? what are the real differences. The only thing I noticed is that there is no picture in some.

Why doesnt the RTP unicast support other protocols then TS?

I'm only using the wizzard because I didnt manage to setup this elsehow yet.

Also another thing I wanted to know if if its possible to setup buffering. You know you have a movie on your hard drive which would normaly transfer with speeds of 340kB/s. So I was hoping it owuld be possible to make it prebuffer some minutes because sometimes there are hicups in the connection quality. So instead of transfering with 340kB/s it would go with 440kB/s with buffer protection.

I know thats not possible with Live streams like IPTV but from hdd it should work if the program supports it.

I found out the chaching function but thats not exactly working like I would need it to work. Beucase if there are more hicups it will eventually start to break down.
