possible to play video upside down?

Postby Catman » 26 Dec 2003 16:19

I want to mount my powerbook on the roof of the car so that my son could watch movies on long trips. Don't want to spend any money on a mobile video system. It works great but the video is flipped upside down. Is there a way to play videos upside down so that when the computer is flipped It will look right side up. :? [/b]

Hello,

You must use the transform video filter.

To enable it: Preferences-->video-->video filter

Then, configure it to make a 180° flip:
Preferences-->plugins-->video_filter-->transform, and choose 180.

Yes.

You must
1) Enable the filter (it is perhaps called "image transform filter")
2) Configure it to make the rotation you want
3) Save the preferences
4) Restart the stream.

Ok this is where i'm at....

On ver. 0.6.2 VLC
using powerbook g4 running osx (10.2.8)

file menu under VLC, preferences...
there are several places to go on the text block that shows on the left side. Interface, Audio, Video, Input, etc. etc. but the last one is module. under module I then find the video filters under that I locate transform which is select changable to 90, 180, 270, hflip, vflip. Now After I make the Change and save settings. the Vob file I play on the desktop is still normal. Thats not good since I need the image turned 180?. I've tried quiting and going back to the file files but still the same. I tried all the settings even the h and v flip but no good. Really Really lost
Thanks for your help

This is step 2) in zorglub's post. You missed step 1).
To enable the transform video filter, you have to select "transform" in the dropdown list situated in the "Video" section of the preferences panel.

This is what I see in the Video section of the Preference panel

1. Defult
2. Mac Os X Interface, sound and video
3. dummy video output function

that's it no transform.

what version are you using?

I can watch tv on my computer with the program that came with my tv turner card and have been able to record programs with windows movie player but when I try to watch tv on my computer with VLC the signal is inverted and upsidedown. the sound is good.
I applied the Flip transformation. It displays correctly in my system But with the same setting it displays as inverted in my streaming.

My settings are as follows

Video
Enable Video
Skip Frames

Filters
Nothing is ticked (i have tried with ticking the transformation but the streamed output is still inverted.)

output modes
Default

Stream Format
Video Standars Pal_B
Frame Rate 25
Colour space : YUY2
Output size 320X240

TV Tuner :Prop
Channel 60
Country 91 (India i suppose)
Tuning mode TV
Video Standara : Pal_B
Input 1. Cable

Crossbar
Input 0:Video tuner In
Output 0: Video Decoder Out
