wrong version in downloaded DMG

Postby Totusek » 15 Jul 2008 06:03

The downloaded VLC media player from vlc-0.8.6i-powerpc.dmg http://downloads.videolan.org/pub/video ... owerpc.dmg contains VLC media player v0.8.6h PPC instead of VLC media player v0.8.6i PPC

Whom do I contact to report this?

Hi,
This issue seems to be addressed on the mailing list (see below).

regards.
By the way, the answer to your question is the mailing lists (@vlc-devel or @videolan) :-)

Re: Power PC version of VLC media player 0.8.6i: The splash screen,
and get info windows say that the release is still 0.8.6h. Just
cosmetic I'm sure, but wanted to let you know.

There are posting around the internet, including at VersionTracker http://www.versiontracker.com/, stating that the wrong version is in the vlc-0.8.6i-powerpc.dmg download.

Therefore, having softwares that give an incorrect version number, clearly can have more than a
cosmetic effect
, on even the downloading and use of the software...

In fact, I've joined http://forum.videolan.org to inquire about this, and the information here is not known at all the other locations, that I read the postings stating that the wrong version is in the vlc-0.8.6i-powerpc.dmg download.

(cf. ici : viewtopic.php?f=12&t=47276&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a)

voir mes posts:
VLC 0.8.6h: No more TV after 10 seconds streaming.
VLC 0.8.6i: No more TV after 10 seconds streaming.
