playing .torrent files in VLC

I downloaded some tv shows from vuze and I can't get them to play. It's the title of the show, season and episode followed by: HDTV.XviD-XOR.avi.torrent

How can I play this? what if any codec do I need? I can't seem to get any files with the .torrent suffix to play either in VLC or in Quicktime.

Have you put the torrent file into a proper torrent client? The .torrent file isn't actually a video, rather a file that enables you to connect to the tracker. I like transmission, but remember kids, don't pirate or you'll get your arse sued
