WMV has a bad support

Postby addyboy » 07 Oct 2004 23:41

The WMV support is lacking. When I try and play a wmv video I get these bugs:

main: decoder is leaking pictures, resetting the heap
main: picture 0x2a07c3c refcount is -1
main: decoder is leaking pictures, resetting the heap
main: picture 0x2a0803c refcount is -1
main: decoder is leaking pictures, resetting the heap
main: picture 0x2a07e3c refcount is -1
main: decoder is leaking pictures, resetting the heap
main: picture 0x2a07e3c refcount is -1
main: decoder is leaking pictures, resetting the heap
main: picture 0x2a07d3c refcount is -1

In Windows Media Player it plays the video ok, in VLC everything get's pxelerated and the sound is bad.

But VLC still rocks :P

Btw, I use VLC Media Player 0.8.0-test 2 on Mac OS X 10.3.5 on A G5 2 x 2 ghz with 1.5 GB Ram.. so speed is not a problem ;)

The decoder isn't finished and as far as i know it is very difficult to do so.

Untill someone fuly reverse engineers the codec, there is no way to decode this any better on a mac (without using WiMP). Blame M$
Don't use PMs for support questions.

Works just fine on PC if you download this: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... nload.aspx

Requires the 0.8.0-test2 version though.
