VLC skips frames with .mkv format

Hi,
I run VLC 0.8.6.f on SuSE 10.3, and just tried to play a video in .mkv format, and this video has audio tracks in 3 diffent languages.
The video skips frames, stutters; machines used are a Celeron 2.6 MHz, and a T2080 1.7 MHz.
On both machines same issue with VLC, while on both I can run same .mkv video fine with Kaffeine.
Also I tested same .mkv video on a Win32 box with 750 MHz P3 running VLC 0.8.6h where it works without issue....
so question is if VLC is not ready yet for playing .mkv videos on Linux?
If someone of the coders wants to test self I can provide a D/L location for the video which showed the issue - just send me a PM to recieve the link.

MKV is just a container, and VLC has one of the best supports for MKV ever.
What are the video and audio streams within the MKV ?
What driver do you use in xorg.conf for video ?
What driver do you use in VLC for video and audio ?
What are the filters you enabled in VLC ?

My guess is, either you are using the wrong driver, or you enabled too many filters for your CPU to handle.

Also, WMV support on VLC in Linux causes those stuttering. If the MKV has a WMV stream, then it stutters in VLC, but Kaffeine, which can use the w32codecs, has no issues.

Check and report back.
