SUBTITLES won't show whereas they work's on quicktime

Postby vassily » 27 May 2008 17:59

Hi,

I was a VLC user on Windows so I was glad to see that it worked also on MAC when I switched.

But, I got an issue with the subtitles that won't show.

I"m on intel MAC leopard, with latest version of VLC 8.6f.

I tested the video with its subtitles on Quicktime+perian and it works well. But the sound was faster than the video.

So tried with VLC, and I don't have this lag problem with this movie, but I can't make the subtitles works.

I tried to change the encodage (utf-8, ISO-xxxx) it doesn't works
the subtitles are correctly loaded because I can see them in menu>video>subtitle>track1, but I can't see them.

I did'nt found anyone that have the same issue on mac forums so I came here,

can anybody help me ?

thanks in advance, and sorry for my english

David

What is the subtitles format? What is the encoding ?

.srt

I just check out the encoding,
and it is "dos oem"

This is a lead man !

I 'll tried to reencode the file before to use it. I'll let you know.

so I come back again,

I tried to re-save the srt file in an other format (utf8) but it style doesn't work.

I managed to get a error message this time : main: demux doesn't like DEMUX_GET_TIME

logs:

Code: Select all

main debug: `file:///Users/ddouard/Movies/jericho/Jericho.S02E07.HDTV.XviD-LOL.srt' successfully opened ps warning: garbage at input, trying to resync... main error: demux doesn't like DEMUX_GET_TIME main debug: control type=17 main debug: looking for decoder module: 25 candidates subsdec debug: using enforced character encoding: UTF-8 main debug: using decoder module "subsdec" main debug: thread 2957578240 (decoder) created at priority -47 (input/decoder.c:159)
the srt file still does work well with quicktime... but quicktime create a lag between the voices and the images, so I'd rather use vlc.

Any thing else ?

thanks

hi,

all the file I 've tried works well on Windows with VLC/WindowsMedia and BsPlayer

it's still not working with VLC on Mac...

any coder here can help me. I'd rather use vlc than quicktime for now because I'm having some lag sometimes with some videos.

I am having this same problem!

I have tried installing vlc numerous times and it still doesn't work !

The movie files I'm trying to play are AVI files and the subtitles are .srt

I open the movie then i try to open the .srt file and it just keeps saying there is an error

is there a certain way you have to open it? someone please help me! i really wanna watch these 2 movies i have

i also tried opening it where you click the box that says "enable subtitle ..." and it still does not work!
