No audio on a mov file

Postby Efcis » 27 May 2008 16:29

Hi

I don't hear audio of this MOV file : http://web.1.c3.audiovideoweb.com/1c3we ... fStuff.mov

VLC 0.86f Janus / WinXP SP2

No Error message. My speakers are wired and switched ON ;-)

Any idea ?

Thanks !

There is audio in that file but for some reason VLC doesn't play it (neither nightlies nor stable builds). VLC identifies the track correctly. Messages complain when rewinding
mp4 debug: track[Id 0x2] does not provide Sync Sample Box (stss)
I don't know if that has something to do with it.

GSpot v2.70a says :

Audio :
Codec MPEG-2 Layer 3 CBR
Info : 24000 Hz 96 kb/s tot, Joint Stereo

Video :
Codec avc1
Name H.264

Hope this helps

Thanks and regards

I checked all versions of VLC and found that all problems with .MOV audio begin starting from version 0.7.0. There is either no sound or a heavily irritating choppy sound.

Question to developers:
Problems with sound began exactly in the version where you fixed the video on dual monitors. Is it a coincidence? :)))
Guys, what did you do to the audio module in the end of 2004? Don't tell me you went to Ukrainian elections.

Problem still exists in 0.9.4 on Windows - when will the fix be released on Windows?

(Can't play the movies from my Kodak camera, sniff - QuickTime doesn't perform well on my laptop with HD video and while VLC does play the video well, there is no audio...)

Sample file works fine in my 0.9.4 under Windows. You have sample file that doesn't work?

My bad - just re-tested and it works fine. Apologies.
