ARABIC subtitles ERROR

hello

my vlc version is 0.7.2 and there is error in the display of the arabic subtitle and it display from left to right

is there is solution?

well you didn't describe the problem, so who knows?

if your vlc is compiled the right way you should get the arabic subtitles displayed the right direction, but they will not be joined and look good. VLC just don't know how to do that

it was probably compiled the left way then...

ok..this thread is old..but I still have the same problem..arabic subtitles doesn't display properly..letters looks separated when they should be connected..I'm using vlc 0.8.4.
Is there a fix to this problem yet..or I have to live with it?
there were a post where someone posted a fix for that

The fix mentioned in the post above was approved. Please follow the above post, hopefully, someone will tell us where to get the nightly build. Still, I'm not sure Arabic letters will be joined properly, I'm not sure the FRIBIDI library that's used for right-to-left handling in VLC does this. For whoever's interested, what operating system and font are you using for Arabic, I may give it a try and test it.

And no, fribidi indeed does not support joining, and therefore we cannot properly support arabic subtitles.
Don't use PMs for support questions.
