Just confirming that I don't get audio either. Last reliable build for me was vlc-git-powerpc-20080428-0317. The more recent ones either didn't launch or video wouldn't play (couldn't find codec), and now the current plays video, but no audio.

Hi I just tried the latest build to see if it would solve my problem with my USB audio interface and had no luck (please see my post regarding this issue). I got this error:

However audio works fine when I select internal audio. PPC Mac, OS 10.5.2.
Variety of AVIs, Mpegs, MP3s, MKVs etc., all same.

Same error as you with build of 12 May. Mine is an IMac Intel OSX 10.5.2. The problem I have is wihe a .mkv (matroska file) file. Same plays well with VLC 0.8.6f.

In the latest build (20080514-0118), it seems like it's just the a52 audio codec that seems to be missing because my other video files now play with audio

15 May Build has same error but it seems to be only with a52 audio files.

still doesn't work for me with video files that use the a52 audio codec. One thing for sure is that the nightly builds don't have the a52 audio codec activated.

The magic solution is to "Delete preferences and cache" by double clicking on the delete preferences icon in the goodies folder.

This makes things worse for me. When I do the above my Controller window doesn't even draw. All I see is the thin strip of the titlebar and nothing else.

If I replace the vlcrc file with the previous trashed one, the controller comes back as expected.

although now, under preferences -> audio, there's a "a52tospdif' tab and under input / codecs -> audio codecs, there's a tab for a52. Shows they're working on repairing it thankfully
