Huge VLC multicast memory leak using vlm and then VLC crash!

Hello,

I've searched through the forum for same themes and didn't find anything simular to my probleme
so I decided to create new theme to find somebody who has same problem and who can help me to solve this problem.. :roll:

If you know how to fix this issue please post the link below :roll:

I'm running VLC media player 0.8.6e under Linux 2.6.24-gentoo-r2 #2 SMP x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
and it crashes every single day :cry:

I'm streaming from multicast to HTTP and using vlm config like this

Total 40 channels streaming :)

And I'm running vlc like this: vlc -vvv --ttl 12 --mtu 1500 -I telnet --telnet-password password --vlm-conf /etc/vlc/vlm.cfg

I had to reboot my machine after it freezed and VLC crashed utill I've set sysctl vm.swappiness=30
After this vlc takes away both all free memory (I have 4GB RAM) and swap (I have 2GB SWAP) and then kernel KILLs it I guess

pthread_create done, but join didn't

__vlc_thread_create makes a flow. But after stopping smth must clean the resources I guess

Hi - we are doing something similar... we are serving a lot of streams, and duplicating to many servers. We experience crashes often.

Did you find any solution? Patches, etc?

No, I didn't find any solution..
But I had to write a simple BASH script to watch when the process killed and then bring it up again..

VLC daemon crashes almost every day!! It consumes up to 100% of free memory and then dies. Sometimes it causes the system hang or video severely hinders/lags.

Dear developers! Please fix finally this ugly bug - there is no more patience for me!!! If it be needed I can help you with debugging work (using valgrind) to win this problem 4ever
