DD \ DTS : Sound is choppy when running ISO of movies

Postby shaz303 » 16 Apr 2008 21:54

Hi all

I'm running ISO's from my PC. I'm using optical out and trying to get DD/DTS sound.
Unfortunately the sound is choppy. I have the optical out going from my shuttle pc to my home theater amp and the DD/DTC light is flickering meaning it's not locking on.
I have tried all the above settings.

What setting should I have VLC on to get this working?
Do I need to install any other codec?
Stereo sound is fine.

If I can get this system up and running I'll be jumping up and down and clapping my feet.

Please advise!

Hi,

it looks or better sounds like one of the most common problem's with VLC 0.8.x since a long time ...?

Did you try the Waveout audiomodule?
goto -> Settings Dialog -> Audio -> Outputmodule -> choose "Win32 waveOut Extension"
(you need to restart vlc after doing this change - to apply)

you should also check "[X] use S/PDIF if available..." ... if this doesn't help either, try one of the nightly build's from the upcoming 0.9 Version - where some changes are done on the "Win32 waveout Extension" - especially for S/PDIF output.

and last but not least the usual question's:
-> Whats OS are you useing?
-> Hardware? Soundcard? Type?
