VLC and DTS

Postby stoner » 13 Apr 2008 15:54

I own a set of Logitech z-5500 I was running analog through the speakers until yesterday I went out and bought a sound blaster x-fi card now it's running through the optical port I have some movies with DTS audio but when I play them then goto the audio menu and choose A/52 over S/PDIF the audio comes out all choppy and skippy which makes it impossible to listen to is there anyway to fix this?

Hello,

which version of VLC did you run?

you may try a nightly build of the upcoming 0.9er version - which could be downloaded from here - to test if the recent changes to the waveout module fixed your problems.

Thanks for the reply
I was using 0.8.6f but I got the nightly build now I don't get any sound unless I turn it to 5.1 and the A/52 over S/PDIF is still choppy and skipping I am going to try another player and see if it works if not then I know its not the software

Hi,

did you switch the audio outputmodule to waveout? - don't use the standardmodule (this is still not fixed *sorry*)

goto settings dialog -- click on [Show Settings] (*) All (bottom left of that dialog)

Click on [Audio] of the tree (top left) -> choose [Outputmodule] "Win32 waveout extension"
(you need to restart vlc that this change gets applied..)
