It looks like you have hue correction activated. Try to look in your display parameters (Nvidia or ATI control panel)

Graphic card driver issue.

Reset preferences and cache.
Disable overlay.
Change video output.

Reset preferences and cache.
Disable overlay.
Change video output.
and what does all this mean?
How and where to do all this 3 things?

PS: Interesting is that when I play the AVIs with other player the colors are OK, so why only VideoLAN shows this graphic card issue?

Reset preferences and cache.
Open VLC preferences and click "Reset All", or delete VLC preferences folder (C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\vlc). To see "Application Data", show hidden files and folders in Windows.
Disable overlay.
In VLC preferences, open "Video", and uncheck "Overlay video output".
Change video output.
In VLC preferences, open "Video > Output Modules", check "Advanced Options" in the bottom right corner, and try different video output modules until it works.

Also, you might need to restart VLC after each change for it to be applied.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the help.

My video files play normal now no longer blue faces.

I know I'm 8 years late, just wanted to say thanks. AMD Radeon R9 390 with latest drivers and thought there might be something wrong with my card. Was unaware of disabling overlay in VLC.

Something is wrong in your display drivers if disabling overlay fixed smurf effect.
