No graphic interface for VLC 0.8.4 under CentOS 4.3

Hi !

I've installed VLC 0.8.4 (because the next versions 0.8.5x and 0.8.6x contains a bug: no video get on a client run after streaming this video from a server side in H.264. The SPS/PPS packets was not sent).


I've installed theses libraries on my Linux CentOS 4.3 :

And at the end, the VLC 0.8.6 by the command :

rpm -ivh videolan-client-0.8.4-3.2.el4.rf.i386.rpm

(i don't need to get sources to be compiled)


But the problem is while trying to run VLC from this machine i get the following error :

# vlc
VLC media playu 0.8.4 Janus
[00000392] main dialogs provider error: no dialogs provider module matched "any"
[00000306] skins2 interface error: no suitable dialogs provider found (hint: compile the wxWidgets plugin, and make sure it is loaded properly)


I can't use any button on vlc graphical interface (no preference, ...) (


I tried to install all the packages of wxGTK (... gl , xrc, devel ...) but the problem is the same


Could you help me to resolve this problem ?

wxGTK on CentOS is 2.8.3 if i remember well, thus it fall under the wxGTK 2.8 bug, you can compile it but it won't be working at run time

Thank you for your reply. I've tried to install the latest wxGTK package : rpm -ivh wxGTK-2.8.6-2.el4.pp.i386.rpm

but the problem is the same (error messages and vlc button does not work) ((

you need to find a compat-wxGTK26 package (you can take it from srpms F-7 or F-8) so this will not distrub others package that are using wxGTK28
