Does someone know how I can play HE-AAC multi-channel in VLC? When I use the spdif-out it's just plain stereo-sound (ac3/DD5.1 is no problem).

I'm not sure if FAAD2 is able to decode multichannel HE-AACv1 (SBR), or at least if VLC supports it?v

How many channels if VLC registering in the stream info (press "Ctrl+I" and click on the "Advanced information" tab)?

VLC sees 8 channels. A little bit strange, there are only 6 in the input-file.

Doesn't anybody know how to play these kind of multi-channel streams? It would be a great help, because I have dozens of films with this audio-codec.

Is see that the amount of channels are being displayed are correct (6 channels, instead of 8 ). So in the latest nightly it's probably possible to output aac through your optical audio-port. I wonder if you developers got plans to built an on-the-fly aac ==> ac3 converter? Not much home-cinema sets support aac, so that would be great if vlc would do the converting. Like it's possible in Windows with certain codec-set (like community pack). It would really mean a lot for the mac-platform, because now a days a lot of movies are being supplied with multi-channel (he-)aac-audio. Even the ones from Apple self!

well, it should be already possible with VLC.

Does it has to be activated or something? I used the latest nightly, and my homecinema-set is only receiving 2 channels. SPDIF output is on, so is Force Dolby Surround. AC3 works perfect.

ps: is it normal that you can't change the advanced preferences is the nightly? Only the new simple one is usable.
