Why doesn't the UB edition of VLC work on PowerPCs?

I thought the whole idea of Universal Binary was that it worked on both Intel AND PowerPC Macs? Yet the nightly builds do not work on my G5 and the sole PowerPC nighties haven't been updated for ages... So what's the score?

The nightly builds you have tested are Intel-only. We provide separate nightly builds for both architecture, as the UB needs to be created manually in our case. That's why we only do this for releases. We are working on current PowerPC nightly builds, which should be up pretty soon now.
