Streaming through VLC to Xbox 360

Postby Achilleos » 18 Dec 2007 16:27

A friend of mine is streaming live icehockey games so that I can see them through VLC. But I'd rather use my tv instead on my monitor(Watching through the xbox 360 is my only option at the moment).

I have read post on the tvsersity forum that enables watching channels sent through sopcast using VLC on my xbox 360 and it worked:

Start vlc with commandline: "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" -vvv http://127.0.0.1:8902/tv.asf --sout "#std{access=mmsh,mux=asfh,dst=:1234}"

Go to TVersity and add that Video URL mms://127.0.0.1:1234

Do all this while sopcast is running and streaming.

I've tried similiar methods to get my friends stream to work the same way but have yet to succeed.

What I think I should do is somehow get his stream to turn into an .asf stream on my computer, then have a video url in tversity enabled "mms://127.0.0.1:1234" but... I don't get it to work

Any help is highly appreciated

Cheers

Hadouken

ok i also use vlc but i have set up a file called sopcast.asf

open note pad type in url of sopcast, :D you can right click on sopcast player for prop..... and find url stream there!
save the file as sopcast.asf in my video
add this to tversity video and open on xbox360
this also works if you have windows media center but not on vista as (asf) format is not supported on vista

i have not yet tried to connect vlc directly to xbox360 (vlc as a server ) but the 2 other methods work.

I was trying to get my TV on my Xbox 360 via a Streambox and VLC. I've got it working intermittently. I think it's the TVersity being flakey that is stopping it working 100%. I used http://slingboxsdk.sourceforge.net/ but I think the principles may be the same.

"c:\program files\VideoLan\vlc\vlc.exe" sling: :sout=#duplicate{dst=display,dst=std{access=mmsh,mux=asfh,dst=:1234}}

That gave me something I could get into WMP (although for some reason I couldn't get it into VLC). That worked every time.

Adding mms://192.168.0.237:1234 into TVersity with transcode set to Never let me watch TV, it worked TWICE. I can't figure out why it doesn't work when it doesn't, but hopefully my steps may help someone else.
